The weather last Saturday was strange: from sunshine to rain, clouds and sun again. The afternoon began with a sunny sky filling downtown Barcelona with bright colors and deep shadows.
We met with Mr and Mrs Lemmer in front of the cathedral, they were interested in making better pictures when they travel and finding out some tips to enjoy their camera completely. The Lemmers came from Germany but wanted to practice their Spanish so the conversation switched from german to spanish whenever it was necessary. We started talking about framing architecture, the importance of details and how to make great pictures of whole buildings, façades, and monuments in sunny and cloudy days. The key was finding an interesting angle and shooting the person in front of the building at a very close distance.
We walked around the cathedral and explored Sant Felip Neri´s square and church a peaceful little squared where the film ¨The perfume¨ was shot some years ago. Exploring backlights, flash and angles we went to Plaça St Jaume viting the roman temple and the Plaça del Rei. At the Aragon Kingom Archive building we ejoyed a wonderful new view of the central garden and the fountain and to finish the afternoon ( and avoid a little rain) we visited the Sta maria del Mar church where the Lemmers discovered how important weddings are in Spain and why people overdress to assist.
A wonderful Sunday for all of us…
